Mumbai-Thane Metro line gets CM Devendra Fadnavis's approval

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yesterday approved a 32-km-long Metro line connecting Mumbai with the adjoining Thane city.

The Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavli (WGTK) Metro line is estimated to cost Rs 14,549 crore. The CM approvaed to the project during a meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Devel-opment Auth-ority (MMRDA) here, stated an official release.


Fadnavis is the MMRDA chairperson, which has undertaken a slew of infrastructure projects to improve traffic and transportations scenario in the financial capital and its neighbouring districts.

The state government expects to complete the project (Mumbai Metro Line-4), which will have 32 stations, by 2021.

The project will help connect Thane with Mumbai with a modern public transport system and have a huge impact on the development and areas around the corridor, the statement said.

After the commencement of the service, the distance between Wadala (Mumbai) and Kasarwadavli (Thane) will be covered within 64 minutes.
