Joint CP (Traffic) B K Upadhyaya has proposed the scheme to recognise good work of traffic policemen in every division
The traffic policemen at signals may soon seem more efficient and approachable. The newly appointed Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic), Dr BK Upadhyaya has made it a mission to change the image of traffic constables.

Every division will award one member of their staff with an appreciation certificate and cash prize at the end of the month.
The aim of the ‘Traffic Cop of the Month’ scheme is to acknowledge a job well done and ensure that cops handle motorists in a positive manner. With 25 divisions, there are nearly 3,400 traffic cops in the city.
The scheme will involve every cop who is on field during the month. Senior officials have also encouraged inspectors to go on field and observe the behaviour of their staff.

The parameters under the scheme will be their punctuality, case handling skills, overall record and how they deal with violators on the road. Through this scheme, we want to ensure that every staff member
is working hard and handling motorists in a positive manner. If a cop is doing good work, he should be appreciated by his seniors.
