Those traveling via the new arterial link road between Andheri and Dahisar brace for major traffic snarls as work on the Dahisar West-DN Nagar Metro corridor started last night near Bangur Nagar in Goregaon West. Consequently, the six-lane road has reduced to only four lanes. MMRDA Joint Project Director Dilip Kawatkar said, “We have already begun work on the Dahisar-Andheri line. One lane each on either sides of the median will be barricaded. Motorists can use the remaining two lanes. Traffic marshals will be posted at various locations to ease traffic flow”,
On Sunday afternoon, the authorities started putting up barricades along the road stretch between Bangur Nagar and InOrbit mall in Malad. But this it translates into tough times ahead for thousands of commuters. Around 500 traffic wardens have been deployed the corridor and 5,000 barricades and 42 bikes have been put into effect.
