Mumbai: Wadala- Jacob Circle monorail to get rolling by next year

The work on second phase of the Wadala- Jacob Circle monorail is moving ahead on a war footing and the line is expected to be operational by the mid of next year.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is gearing up to energize the 22KV HT cable fitted on the concrete guideway from Wadala Depot Station to GTB Nagar Station and from GTB Nagar Station to Antop Hill Station a distance of about 3 kms.

The high voltage cables will remain energized and shall be treated as live at all times from June 12, 2015. “We at MMRDA, therefore, appeal to the citizens not to work or approach the vicinity as it can prove dangerous”, said Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director (PR) MMRDA.

The second phase of the Monorail project from Wadala to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk is only getting ready to serve Mumbaikars very soon! The Phase-I of the Monorail corridor from Chembur to Wadala has already been launched last February.
