Summer this year seems to have increased footfalls at the airline ticketing counters, as Mumbaikars are planning vacations to escape the maddening heat. People are booking for outbound tourist destinations like Europe, America, Dubai and Mauritius, but at the same time domestic destinations like Kochi, Andaman and Nicobar, Shimla and Dehradun are also in demand.

A spokesperson from Air India said, "The sales are looking up this season. A lot of people are headed to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and other European tourist destinations. This seems to be a good sign for the industry."

Devang Sanghvi of Andheri-based Venus Holidays added, "There is almost a 40 per cent increase in the business compared to last year. Till date we have booked thousands of tickets for Dubai, Mauritius, Europe and American tourist destinations."

Jatin Desai, a salaried man, who has planned his trip for Dubai, said, "We cannot stay there for more than 20 days but at least we will escape the heat for a little while."

Malti Mishra from Vasai is all set for her Europe tour, "We have planned our trip in the last week of May when the summer is at its cruelest."
