Mohammed Ali Shaikh (pictured), the BSP candidate for Mumbai South constituency, alleged that Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora had offered him Rs 50 crore to withdraw from the elections.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, Ali, who is contesting against Deora's son Milind, accused the senior Deora of carrying out a campaign against him.
"He has levelled several false allegations about my alleged connections with don Dawood Ibrahim. Rumours were also floated about my son Naved being given a Congress ticket (for the assembly elections)," said Ali.
Meanwhile, Congress's Milind Deora said, "Such an allegation does not deserve my response."
