Mush ado about nothing

Love is in the air and all that mawkish jazz is soon to float all around and stareu00a0 straight into our eyes. Soon the town will be painted red. While many might go all cushy, starry, mushy and all lovey dovey, a few who oppose the day might go "Eww crap, what's with all the pink and red hearts everywhere?"

We writers would dish out doses of love inu00a0 form of ideas that you could feed on and add spice to your feigning love lives. Stuff you could go all sinful with, go under wraps or come out of your closet, all sassy or even kinky.
But WTF! Where's all the love gone, anyway? Does anyone still see it, breathe it, feel it? Love in its purest form. Whatever that may be. Well, what else do I say, when it comes as easy as it goes.

The nature of love these days is so transitory and fleeting. It's all about scrounging for opportunities. No wonder love makes the world go round. Poor stupid Cupid has a tough task to keep striking, falling, smacking and bumping back to life again. And again.

When I was in school, love was a feeling that would make one blush from inside out with expressions of true feelings. Not chopper or limo rides or such ritzy, overzealous gifts. If one received a red rose, you would know who it was from. Unlike today, if one were to receive a dozen long-stemmed red roses without a card, one would have to dish out a whole lot of possible exes or ongoing dates.

Someone I know actually bought about half a dozen gifts and tagged each one of them with, 'You are my Valentine'. The flashlights are always on. Infact, full on bonkers.

Do bona fide relationships still exist ufffd those soul-searching, heartwarming ones? Or does this sheer thought itself seem weird? Does racking up a few mates along the way life takes its course seem incidental and stilted?
Of course, we need to spread the message of love and not be stingy there. We all have people we love and people who love us for what we are. People we like to send red roses to or receive some from. But let's stop and smell them too. Let's celebrate the relationships we are in. I'm one for love. Let's raise a toast to this sweet, innocent feeling called love.
