Music industry mourns Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey's demise

Los Angeles: Many big names from the music industry including Steve Martin, Carole King, Huey Lewis, Paul Stanley, Miles Teller, Nial Horan and Justin Timberlake took to Twitter to pay tribute Eagles co-founder guitarist Glenn Frey, who died on Monday. He was 67.

The band confirmed the news with a statement on its website.

"Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia."

"Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide," read the statement.

Actor and musician Martin led the tributes to the musician, who was known for hits like "Tequila Sunrise" and "Heartache Tonight."

"MT: Shocker. My friend from the early days, and important member of Eagles, has died. We loved you, Glenn Frey," he wrote.

Rhythm guitarist and co-lead singer of band Kiss, Paul Stanley, tweeted, "SHOCKED to report the death of GLENN FREY. Eagle & brilliant songwriter. We shared some memories at RRHOF. Shocked."

Former Skid Row frontman, Sebastian Bach wrote, "I swear to God all this #DeathofRockNRoll makes me feel like Ive been hit by a truck. Just want to curl up in a ball & pretend it's not true."

"RIP, Glenn Frey. Travel to the stars safely, bro," singer-songwriter Ryan Adams tweeted.

Calling Frey a good guy, Huey Lewis wrote, "I'm shocked. A brilliant songwriter and a really good guy. Talented, funny, cynical and sweet."

"RIP yet another legend today. Glenn Frey of the the Eagles...Your music is embedded in my brain till the day I die, you will be missed!!," tweeted OneRepublic.

"These cloudy days, make you wanna cry. It breaks your heart when someone leaves and you don't know why " Glenn Frey," wrote One Direction singer Niall Horan.

Recalling his childhood connect with the Grammy-winning singer, Justin Timberlake tweeted, "My Mom used to play Eagles records for me on my way to grade school. We lost one of the greatest songwriters ever today..."

"Glenn Frey, you will be sorely missed. Thank you for all you gave us," Sheryl Crow wrote.

Captain America star Chris Evans tweeted," Thank you Glenn Frey. Thank you. RIP".

Veteran singer-actress Bette Midler posted, "Glenn Frey, founding member of the Eagles, a band I just loved, has died. His songs, those sounds, perfectly captured those days. 70s LA..."

"I was shocked to hear about Glenn Frey passing away... it was a real blow to hear. Love & Mercy to Glenn's family tonight," Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson tweeted.

"We are saddened to have lost this guy today. Another legend gone.@GlennFrey," tweeted Nickelback.
