Bringing together poets from the two cities is a poetry reading session organised by The International Centre of Poetry, Marseille and the Embassy of France, New Delhi in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Bombay and The PEN All-India Centre.

French poets Caroline Sagot-Duvaroux, Danielle M ufffdmoire and Franck Andr ufffd Jamme will have their poets translated into English and Marathi by city poets Hemant Divate, Mustansir Dalvi and Sampurna Chattarji.

"None of us know French, but we are taking the help of translators, and then taking these poems to the next level," says Chattarji.

"These are highly cerebral poems and the activity has been intense. But it has opened up new worlds for us." Will implications get lost in translation, or will a deeper understanding of life beyond our borders emerge?
