1. Tell us about your latest book, Hold My Hand.
This is a book about an awkward young man named Deep, who is obsessed with libraries and books, and who’s dream comes true when he is sent to Hong Kong by his office. He meets Ahana, a beautiful girl, who unfortunately has a rare congenital disease due to which she is visually impaired. Together they explore Hong Kong. Ahana guides Deep with the smells and sounds of the wondrous city, whereas Deep brings to life the sights he sees. The story and the characters in it form a great connect with the readers as it has elements to entertain, teach, and strike an emotional chord within you.
2. You started as a writer at the age of 22. How tough was it coming from an engineering background to becoming an author of eight books?
The journey has been smooth and unbelievable at the same time. Even though I started writing early, I never left studies or my job for it. I never saw writing as a career; it was a hobby for me. It took me five years to decide and take up writing. Being from an engineering background I was still inclined towards writing. Whenever I read something good, I get inspired to write like that. Books by authors such as JK Rowling, David Baldacci and Ruskin Bond hold my interest. To keep up with my writing routine, I make it a point to write at least 2-3 hours a day. I was a shy and awkward boy a few years ago, and I still am. Neither I nor my family think that I have changed over the years. However, the one thing that has definitely changed about me is that I weighed 100kg as a kid and now I am pretty happy about myself.
3. What are you coming up with next? Are you planning a shift from rom-coms?
It’s a surprise I am planning for my readers who have loved me all through my romantic and light-hearted novels. I am planning a fantasy novel next. It will be a blend of magic and physics. I am planning to finish it by early next year. I may shift the focus of my writing from rom-com as I feel that even my taste has changed over the years. This upcoming fantasy story will be the first offering in a new genre. I hope the readers will like it.
