Dear Diana, I'm a Mumbai-based artist and I travel a lot for exhibition-related purposes.
My wife is a teacher and she is not at all interested in my art. We’ve been married for seven years. Though she’s supportive of my profession, she doesn’t approve of my muse who also happens to be my protégé. We often end up having heated arguments on topics with this girl in the centre. I’ve tried my best to explain to her that we’re not having an affair or such but she’s just happy letting her imagination run wild. How to explain?

Your wife obviously is not artistically inclined at all. I can understand your predicament. As you spend a lot of time with your muse, she feels threatened. But you need to tell her that you have not hidden anything about this girl from her. So she need not worry. Creative folk like artists and filmmakers have muses which feature in all their works. If she still does not feel at peace, suggest that when she is on vacation to accompany you on such trips. She will then realise that during art shows things are so hectic that there is no time to play.u00a0
