Mystery surrounds Zaheer Khan's injury

Suspense rules as the Indian camp is hoping that Zaheer Khan's hamstring strain which he suffered during Day One of the opening Test at Lord's yesterday won't rule him out of the all-important Test as well as the series.

Zaheer claimed two wickets for 18 runs in 13.3 overs before returning to the dressing room when England were 107 for two. He missed the last series in the West Indies.

England ended the rain-marred day with 127 for two in the 2,000th game in Test history after India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to send the opposition in after winning the toss. Opinion was divided over Dhoni's decision and pundits remembered Mohammed Azharuddin's similar act in 1990 when England ended up winning. Then cricket manager Bishan Singh Bedi criticised his Azharuddin's call, but yesterday, India coach Duncan Fletcher backed his skipper to the hilt by saying it was the right decision to take in overcast conditions.

One-drop batsman JonathanTrott (dropped twice), was 58 not out after enjoying slices of luck. Kevin Pietersen was unbeaten on 22.
