Meanwhile, Britain’s Andy Murray beat Richard Gasquet of France 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2.
The fourth seed will play sixth seed David Ferrer of Spain for a place in the semi-finals.
Tsonga challenge for Djoko
France’s fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeated Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 7-6 (8/6), 3-6, 3-6, 6-4 the quarter-finals for the first time where he will face top seed Novak Djokovic. Tsonga is bidding to become the first home winner of the men’s singles here in 29 years, since Yannick Noah’s 1983 triumph. —
