A day after officials from Kasarvadavli police station scrutinised the 15-page suicide note they recovered near Suraj Parmar’s body, sources from the police station claimed the note could spell trouble for prominent civic officials and local politicians.

A source claimed that Parmar has mentioned names of several Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) corporators and civic officials, accusing them of demanding bribes to pass his projects.

Parmar claimed to have fulfilled their demands, but not always. Parmar also mentioned how the IT raids at his offices had left him mentally exhausted, and crippled him financially. In one of the pages, he even mentioned names of TMC officers and politicos, who had started demanding that he return the money they had invested in his projects.

Names erased?
A police officer claimed that the manner in which the suicide note was written, gives an impression that Parmar’s decision to commit suicide was a well thought out move. The officer also said that considering the content and number of pages in the suicide note, Parmar must have taken at least two to three days to write it.

However, another source claimed the note has been scribbled on several pages and has names of prominent politicians erased from it. One of the lines in the suicide note that verifies the claim reads: “I am erasing the names, as after me these prominent people will trouble my family if their names will be in my suicide note.”

Commenting on the scribbling and erased names, JCP (Crime) V V Lakshmi Narayana said, “There are several scribblings on his suicide note. We will be sending it to the Forensic Laboratory in Kalina.”

A tragic end
45-year-old Suraj Ramesh Parmar, head of the Cosmos Group and MCHI-CREDAI (Thane) president, ended his life inside a sample flat at one of his ongoing projects in Kasarvadavli, Thane.

Parmar shot himself in the head with his personal firearm on Wednesday afternoon. In the 15-page suicide note that he left behind, Parmar blamed mounting financial losses and red tape as primary reasons for taking the drastic step.

Sources from the MCHI revealed that Parmar had tendered his resignation just 10 days before the suicide, stating he was too busy with his projects. However, the resignation was yet to be accepted. He had also resigned from the post he held at the Jain association.
