New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Indian space scientists for successful launch of an ocean research satellite calling it a "moment of immense joy and pride".


"Our space scientists keep scripting history. Their innovative zeal has touched the lives of 125 crore Indians and made India proud worldwide," Modi said.


The Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) at 9:12 a.m. on Monday launched PSLV-C35/SCATSAT-1 and seven co-passenger satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre located at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

According to the ISRO, SCATSAT-1 is a continuity mission for Oceansat-2 scatterometer to provide wind vector data products for weather forecasting, cyclone detection and tracking services to the users.
