A 12,500-pound decommissioned satellite landed over the Pacific Ocean between 11.23 pm and 1.09 am on Saturday morning.

A NASA team predicted that the satellite would enter Earth's orbit and in the evening they found broken debris shuttling to the ocean and towards Canada.

The dead Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite was designed to help scientists understand climate change as it circled the planet at a 57-degree inclination to the Equator, every hour and a half.
