NBA star Baron delighted to see Mumbai kids' enthusiasm on court
Los Angeles Clippers' NBA star Baron Davis has been around long enough to judge true enthusiasm. And that's exactly what Davis experienced at the Phoenix Mills yesterday.
Decade
Davis who just finished his 10th year in the NBA, is in the city to promote NBA Jam, the first-ever fan event in India. "The response from the youth has certainly exceeded my expectations. The enthusiasm and love for basketball that these kids have are truly exceptional," he said.
Keenness among the kids notwithstanding, Davis stressed the need to have better basketball infrastructure.
"We need to set up nets in public places so that kids have easy access to the sport. This is a long-term plan.
We don't expect things to things to change instantly, but in the future we certainly expect to see Indians playing in the NBA," said Davis at a media interaction after a coaching clinic.
The event was spiced by the presence of New York Knicks City Dancers. A seven-week free interactive basketball experience will be held for kids in Delhi and Bangalore too.
