NCC cadet Parag Ingale (13), a student of Loyola High School, was injured in the mishap and is still critical. Ghanekar was brought to the police station by NCC officials around 8.30 pm yesterday following which he was arrested immediately.
“We have arrested Ghanekar and he will be produced before the court tomorrow,” Senior Police Inspector Manohar Joshi of the Deccan Gymkhana police station said yesterday.
Parag is undergoing treatment at the Commandant Hospital and has been put on ventilator. Confirming that Parag was critical and was put on ventilator, Commandant Maj Gen V Ravishankar said there was a marginal improvement in his health as Parag responded to painful stimuli.
“But the cadet is yet to wake up and hence we say that he is showing a marginal improvement,” Ravishankar said. “We have recovered the metallic foreign body that was removed from the boy’s head at the Command Hospital. The hospital has also given us the injury certificate,” Joshi said.
