'I was brain damaged': Tanishaa Mukerji recalls falling from a mountain

Bollywood actress Tanishaa Mukerji, who didn’t taste the same amount of success and stardom as her sister Kajol, recalls the time she had a horrific accident while shooting her debut film ‘Sssshhh…’. Directed by Pavan S. Kaul, the slasher film also featured Karan Nath and Dino Morea. In an interview with News 18, Tanishaa said, “I was brain damaged. I used to literally shoot for 2 hours and sleep for 3 hours. I would literally shoot for 2 hours because it would be so hectic and I would pass out. I wouldn’t be able to stay awake because my brain was exhausted,” she added.  Over the years, Tanishaa went on to do films like 'Neal 'n' Nikki', 'Sarkar', and 'Tango Charlie' to name a few.  Tanishaa, who was away from the silver screen for a long time, returned in 2021 with a spy thriller titled 'Code Name Abdul'. Our family has been taken aback by this shocking incident that took place. Unfortunately some people claiming to be close to our family and pretending to be the spokesperson have been making loose statements to the media saying it's all a publicity stunt and the family remains unaffected which is not true and these views should not be taken seriously.  “No member of the Salim Khan family has made any statement regarding this incident to the media. The city police said it was probing the firing incident from all angles and was in the process of ascertaining the identities of the accused and finding out where they came from. Sandeep Reddy Vanga hits back at 'Kabir Singh' actor Adil Hussain

Seasoned actor Adil Hussain, who is known for films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Life of Pi’, and ‘English Vinglish’ to name a few, made startling comments on being a part of the 2019 film ‘Kabir Singh’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. However, the statements made by Adil caught the attention of the film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga who hit back.  On the YouTube channel AP Podcast, Adil said, “That’s the only film in my life that I have done without reading the script, without seeing the movie which it is based on. I regret it till today. The only movie I have regretted doing is that film… Kabir Singh."  Adil plays Shahid’s professor in the film and asserts that he walked out of the film and fears his wife's reaction if she happens to watch it. Speaking about Sandeep, he said, “I think a film like this, it celebrates something which is not beneficial for the society. It legitimizes male misogyny. It legitimizes violence against anybody for that matter, doesn’t have to be a woman. And it celebrates it, it glorifies it and it should not be glorified.” Sandeep took to X, formerly Twitter, and shared the video of the interview and wrote, “Ur 'belief' in 30 art films didn't get as much fame to u as ur 'regret' of 1 BLOCKBUSTER film did. I regret casting u, knowing that ur greed is bigger than ur passion. NOW I'll save U from the shame by replacing Ur face with AI help. Now smile properly.”  'Kabir Singh', which emerged as Shahid's biggest hit of his career, was a remake of 'Arjun Reddy'. Both 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Kabir Singh' were directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who made a hattrick of blockbusters with his recent directorial, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Animal'.  Meanwhile, Adil Hussain will next be seen in 'Ulajh' which stars Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah. The film follows the journey of a young diplomat, who, belongs to a prominent family of patriots, and finds herself embroiled in a dangerous personal conspiracy while far from her home turf, at a career-defining post. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Pic/AFP

ED attaches property worth Rs 98 crore of Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra

It's been months since Raj Kundra dropped wearing his extravagant masks to hide his face from the paparazzi following his jail time in the Mumbai porn racket case, and now the businessman and his star wife Shilpa Shetty have landed themselves once again on the crime radar. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday said it has attached a bungalow and a flat, apart from equity shares, worth about Rs 98 crore of Shilpa and Raj in connection with a money-laundering case linked to the Rs 6,600 crore Bitcoin scam. As per PTI, the federal agency has issued a provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to attach the couple’s properties.  Shilpa and Raj’s legal representative said no prima facie case has been made out against his clients and that they would cooperate with the authorities. The money-laundering case stems from FIRs lodged by the Maharashtra Police and Delhi Police against a company named Variable Tech Private Limited, late Amit Bhardwaj, Ajay Bhardwaj, Vivek Bhardwaj, Simpy Bhardwaj, Mahender Bhardwaj and several multi-level marketing agents who are alleged to have collected huge amounts of funds in the form of Bitcoins (worth Rs 6,600 crore in 2017) from the public with the "false promise" of 10 percent monthly return in the form of Bitcoins. The ED alleged that Bitcoins were supposed to be utilised for mining and investors were supposed to get huge returns in crypto assets. Still, the promoters "cheated" them and have been concealing the "ill-gotten" Bitcoins in obscure online wallets. Kundra, the agency alleged, received 285 Bitcoins from the "mastermind" and promoter of the Gain Bitcoin Ponzi "scam", Amit Bhardwaj, for "setting up a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine".These Bitcoins were sourced out of the "proceeds of crime" collected by Amit Bhardwaj from gullible investors, it said. "Since the deal did not materialise, Kundra is still in possession and enjoyment of 285 Bitcoins which are presently valued at more than Rs 150 crore," the ED claimed. Shilpa tied the knot with businessman Raj Kundra on November 22, 2009. In May 2012, the two became parents to a son Viaan. And in February 2020 the couple welcomed Samisha, who was born via surrogacy. (With inputs from Agencies)

Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra says actors need to be in 'cliques and camps' to get roles

Parineeti Chopra is currently basking in the success of her recently released film 'Amar Singh Chamkila' where she essayed the role of slain singer Amarjot Kaur, wife of singer Chamkila. In a recent interview, the actress spoke about the lack of opportunities and wrong career decisions that kept her away from doing fulfilling roles.  Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Parineeti said that she lost out on projects because of a lack of socializing. "I don’t go to dinners and lunches or attend parties where work opportunities are created in Bollywood or those roles are discussed. I want directors and producers to call me for my work because I am willing to work hard. I won a National Award for Ishaqzaade 10 years ago. I am still the same actor." Parineeti Chopra who is the cousin of actress Priyanka Chopra admits, "My PR game sucks".  "Getting work in Bollywood doesn’t only depend on merit or acting, you have to be in cliques and camps to get roles. I am not present at the right place at the right time. I am not getting papped every day," she said.  Parineeti further highlighted the system of lobbying in the film industry. “I want to be the voice for actors who aren’t parts of cliques and camps. I hope we break this system of lobbying in Bollywood because I want equal opportunities and work. I may have done the wrong films, but I am the same actor who started 10 years ago and is in search of the right platform,” she said. For the film, Parineeti had to gain 15 kilos. The actor revealed that she couldn’t take up any other project during that time and didn’t make enough public appearances or did brand shoots. After the release of 'Amar Singh Chamkila' on Netflix, Parineeti took to social media to share BTS pictures from the film.            View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by @parineetichopra Before 'Chamkila', Parineeti Chopra was praised for her performance in the film 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar'. The latter was directed by Dibakar Banerjee while Chamkila was directed by Imtiaz Ali. “Dibakar Banerjee and Imtiaz sir are similar. They’re not seen everywhere, every day. They cast me for my work and saw the actor in me. Meri pichli do filmein flop thi (My last two films flopped) but they didn’t look at my market value,” said Parineeti.
