Net 'kills' Amitabh Bachchan!

Celebrity death rumours have claimed many lives. The latest celebrity to be killed off by the internet is Bollywood's living legend Amitabh Bachchan.

A blogger on Tuesday reported that the superstar had died in a ‘car accident’. The post said, “Amitabh Bachan died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - June 26, 2012.”

The blog further stated, “Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Amitabh Bachan lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.”

It’s important to note that ‘Bachchan’ was spelt wrong in the post. Also if one clicks the car crash image the caption reads “photo of David Guetta Car Flipped”. David Guetta is a Grammy-winning artist-producer-DJ.

Expectedly, the news spread like wild fire on the Internet with shocked netizens using social media platforms to pass the information. Fans were left dazed till they realized that it was a hoax.

Though Amitabh hasn’t commented on the hoax till now, his fans have taken to the micro blogging site to calm everybody and blast the perpetrators.

This is not the first time that celebrity death rumours have claimed an Indian icon. They have previously killed off Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, yesteryear superstar Rajesh Khanna and Dilip Kumar.
