Ahmedabad-based designer duo, Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan, are ready with their haveli-inspired store in the city that aims to be a treasure trove for future brides, grooms and their entourages
An addition to the already long list of designer stores in the city is that of designer duo Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan. The couturiers from Ahmedabad have made their presence felt in the city’s fashion circuit by showcasing Indian wedding wear collections, at fashion weeks in the city for almost 10 seasons now.

“A lot of our clients would specially come to Ahmedabad to shop for our outfits. In addition to this, international clients from the UK, Africa and America usually come to Mumbai or Delhi to shop for their trousseau. So, we thought it was about time that we open a store here,” says Shyamal.
He informs us that it also becomes easier for them to cater to Bollywood and a host of stylists with a Mumbai address. Earlier, it entailed a cumbersome process of parcelling all the way from Ahmedabad, he says The duo, who are known for their rich embroideries and the use of a mix of crafts from their home state, had their store designed to the theme of havelis from Ahmedabad. Elegant wooden carved panels sourced from old havelis deserve a special mention as much as the metal chains of swings that serve as props for hanging the garments.
Interiors of the store
“The space, with its high ceiling, beautifully complements our clothes which are essentially Indian,” says Shyamal.
Also, on offer at the store will be pret collections, footwear, headgears and other accessories to match garments as well as a group of in-store stylists who will help you pick your outfit according to your style of wedding.
