New MLAs gear up to solve problems of Punekars

The Metro rail, ring road, BRTS, cleaning of Mutha river and a new airport for Pune city are the projects on the top of the minds of newly elected legislators. Solving traffic issues of the city will be our priority, said Member of Parliament (MP) Anil Shirole, while speaking on Sunday, on behalf of all the eight BJP MLAs of Pune.

“We will now speed up the delayed Metro rail project and administrative procedures to execute it properly,” Shirole said. When asked about the issue of citizens opposing a Floor Space Index (FSI) of 4 along the Metro route, he said, “We will talk to them and find a middle ground to execute the project.”

Shirole also said that they will start work on a ring road that was discussed recently. He explained that construction
of the ring road would ease traffic flow and help citizens commute even more easily. He also assured that the flaws in the existing network of Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited, would be removed.

When asked about their second major task, he said river cleaning will be the next important issue that will be solved. “River pollution has troubled citizens a lot, and that is one of the reasons of the increasing number of diseases in the city. We will talk to experts and will definitely have a solution for this problem,” Shirole said.

Assuring timely implementation of all these projects, Shirole said that citizens will definitely see the difference in their five years of rule. “Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started performance monitoring in the central government, we will have the same in the state, to evaluate the performances of the MLAs,” he stated.
