“Anna shortlisted 50 members for the new core team from all over the country, which includes retired defence personnel, IAS and IPS officers, engineers, doctors and lawyers.

He also shortlisted 1,000 volunteers for his team from all over the country of which 250 will be from Maharashtra. Anna is examining each of the candidates by studding their backgrounds and ensuring that a clean character works as ‘Team Anna’ member,” Anna’s personal assiatant from Ralegan Siddhi Datta Awari said.

Hazare officially parted ways with Kejriwal and several others after they decided to float a political party. Kejriwal had said the party’s name would be revealed on November 26.

Before forming a new team, Anna consulted several social activists from the city, including Dr Narendra Dabholkar, a former IAS officer, Avinash Dharmadhikar and Vishvambhar Chaudhari.

“Yes, Anna is in a mood to finalise the list of his new warriors. He said the formal announcement will be made soon,” Chaudhari said. “Hazare had discussed the future course of action with sevarl social thinkers and social activists in the country.”

Chaudhari met Anna in Ralegan Siddhi just two days ago.u00a0“Rather than forming a political party, an agitation or a movement plays a vital role in fighting a corrupt system. Hazare is convinced on this and is firm on agitation rather than forming a political party to fight elections,” Chaudhari said.

City President of Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Aandolan Trust (BVJAN) K D Pawar said several people applied from all over the country after Hazare declared the 10-point programme.

“Hazare was scrutinizing the list of applicants for the past two months and finalised the core members as well as volunteers. I think the final touches are being given,” Pawar said.u00a0

Social crusader Anna Hazare will be undergoing cataract surgery in the city today. To avoid crowd and visitors, Anna’s doctor and hospital have been kept under wraps. “He has been resting in the hospital for the last eight days and then his next mission will be made in full swing,” a source from Ralegan Siddhi said.u00a0
