Defending the total, left-arm pacer Sian Ruck (4-31), spinner Morna Nielsen (3-34) and Lea Tahuhu (2-27) starred with the ball to help the Kiwis bowl out the Proteas for 170 runs in 41 overs. South Africa lost wickets at regular intervals.

Tahuhu trapped opener Savanna Cordes (0) leg before on the third ball of the innings. South Africa then lost other opener Yolandi Potgieter (8) in the sixth over while Marizanne Kapp (10) too did not last long as the Proteas were left reeling at 43 for three.

Oz trounce Pakistan
FORMER champions Australia beat Pakistan by 91 runs in their Group ‘B’ opening encounter at the Barabati Stadium here yesterday.

Electing to bat, Australia scored only 175 in 46.1 overs. All-rounder Sarah Coyte scored 35 off 65 balls and then grabbed three for 20 in her stipulated 10 overs.
Opener Rachel Haynes (39) and Lisa Sthalekar (32) were the only batters, who crossed the 30-run mark barring Coyte.

Left-arm spinner Sadia Yousuf was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing three for 30 while Asmavia Iqbal picked two wickets for Pakistan. The target wasn’t a big one, but the Aussies bowled out Pakistan for a paltry 84 in 33.2 overs.

Only Bismah Maroof (43) and Nahida Khan (10) reached double figures. Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt claimed two and one wicket respectively for Australia.
