A newborn baby girl was found dead in a garbage bin located in police residential quarters in Gokhalenagar on Tuesday morning.

A newborn baby girl was found dead in a garbage bin located in police residential quarters in Gokhalenagar on Tuesday morning. The Chatuhshrungi police registered a complaint under Section 318 against an unknown woman for concealing birth of baby by secretly disposing of the body of the infant.

The matter came to light when constable, appointed to supervise cleaning work of Police Vasahat, found the body of the baby in a garbage bin. He immediately informed the Chatuhsrungi police station about the discovery.

Search for mom on
Assistant Police Inspector M N Joshi, who is investigating the case, said that his team looked for a woman in adjoining areas, but to no avail. Joshi said, "We suspect that the baby is born out of a wedlock. Our search for the mother is going on."
