Nimbalkar case: Yadav remanded to CBI custody till July 15

A local court today remanded Kailash Yadav, a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) activist, to CBI custody till July 15 in connection with the murder of senior Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar in 2006.

Yadav, who was brought to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh where he had surrendered on June 6, has been accused of allegedly arranging two shooters to kill Nimbalkar in June 2006.

According to CBI, Pintu Singh and Dinesh Tiwari were hired to kill Nimbalkar by Yadav, after Parasmal Jain, the arrested accused in the case, had approached him to arrange for shooters.

Singh and Tiwari have been arrested by the CBI and are presently in judicial custody. Yadav has a previous criminal record and multiple cases are registered against him in Uttar Pradesh. S

uspended NCP MP Padamsinh Patil and five others -- Singh, Tiwari, Mohan Shukla, Jain and Satish Mandade -- have been arrested so far by the CBI.

According to CBI officials, political and business rivalry is the motive behind the murder as Nimbalkar had exposed Patil's illegal financial transactions in sugar factories in Osmanabad.
