Police still investigating the case where a 22-year-old girl was shot outside her residence

A day after a 22-year-old girl was shot at by unknown armed assailants, the police are still groping in the dark to figure out why she was attacked.u00a0 According to police, the girl, who was identified as Neha Bansal, was shot by two unidentified bikers in the Narela area of outer Delhi on Sunday evening.

Police account
"The incident took place when the girl was walking to her home from her tuition class. She was shot outside her residence in the Shankar Nagar area," said a senior police official. "A call was made to the police control room (PCR) around 8 pm, after which police reached the spot and immediately rushed her to the hospital. She has been admitted to a private nursing home for treatment and her condition is said to be stable. She has sustained two bullet wounds on her hand and waist," he added. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and are investigating the matter. They suspect that the girl was attacked by somebody who she knew and it appears to be a case of a love affair gone sour.

Previous incident
In a similar incident of firing, a young boy was shot under mysterious circumstances in Ranhoula area of west Delhi on Sunday night. According to police, the incident took place at Vikrant Chowk in Ranhola. The victim was identified as Zamrud. He sustained bullet wounds in the stomach and is undergoing treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical. "The motive behind this incident is still not clear and further investigation is on," said a police official.
