No monkey business: Primate holds up play during England's warm-up tie

English cricketers are used to all kinds of pitch invasions, but they weren't prepared for the one they experienced at Ahmedabad during their second day's play in their final warm-up tie.

Play was suspended for a few moments after a langur monkey ran across the pitch,. And while the touring cricketers are used to getting female attention, this monkey had eyes only for his female companion waiting on the other side.

Once the monkey had caught up with his companion near third man, the two disappeared, but not before sharing a few intimate moments in the public eye.

Tim Bresnan, England’s most successful bowler on the day with 2 for 47, was unperturbed by the appearance of the primate. When asked if he was nervous about the interlopers, Bresnan told British daily The Telegraph, “Nah, we get them all the time down my local cricket club.”

On a day when Haryana’s batsmen made them toil hard in the field under the sun, the Englishmen would have enjoyed this brief interlude.
