South Delhi nightclub owners in a fix after being targeted by authorities for allegedly playing loud music till late at night

It seems the party is over for discotheque owners in the Capital. After several complaints from high-profile residents, authorities are pulling up renowned nightclubs for creating disturbance late at night by playing loud music.

Many club owners have already started to turn their premises sound-proof as an immediate solution for the problem. However confusion prevails as no one is quite about the correct interpretation of the guidelines and how they are to be implemented.

Rajan Madhu, Managing Director of F bar said: "Within the mall premises, we ensure that visitors don't get disturbed and in our case we can't be blamed for loud music as we aren't located near any residential area. In general, club owners are in a dilemma as there are no prescribed norms regarding the sound level that has to be maintained. Usually if a single club violates certain rules and regulations, everyone has to face the ire."

"Police officials troubled us even on New Year's Eve. They came to our club and beat the security guard and misbehaved with our guests. Due to this, our clients lost their temper and destroyed some furniture. We are bearing losses from both sides. So I along with the other club owners have formed an association to solve this problem and decide what's the future of our clubs," said Sohrab Sitaram, owner of Tabula Rasa.

"We responded by taking the strongest possible measures, in accordance with Supreme Court orders, on the basis of five complaints received against pub owners," said a police officer.
