Bhopal gas tragedy victims demand punishment for guilty, not relief package

The government may claim that the Bhopal gas victims will get proper compensation and justice in the case but the gas victims have made their mind that until and unless the conspirators behind the tragedy get punished they will not accept the compensation.

Raishabi, another victim said, "We have been voicing our demands for so long, but they have ignored us. We will fight this battle until Arjun Singh and Anderson get the punishment."

"The government has announced compensation for 45,000 victims but the actual number is much more than that.

The government is still following the data bank which was prepared on the day of incident. We will challenge it in court if required," added Hamida.

Government has announced a relief package of Rs 1,255 crore but the victims are not too convinced. Samshad Bi, another victim said, "We doubt this package will ever reach the affected."
