Notify govt for what, asks Army chief

Following the debate over the alleged unnotified movement of two army units in January that was said to have spooked the government, Indian Army chief Gen VK Singh has blamed “rogue elements” in the bureaucracy for stoking controversies and denied any rift between him and Defence Minister AK Antony.

“I am on the same page as the government. We enjoy good relations,” said Gen Singh. The chief said the movement of two units was routine and the army didn’t need to notify the government about it. “Notify for what? We keep doing this many times,” he said.
