NT Rama Rao
A feature film on Telugu idol Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, better known as NTR, will soon be made, his actor-son N Balakrishna announced yesterday. "It will be a biopic and will capture several unknown facets of his life," Balakrishna told reporters in his ancestral village in Andhra Pradesh. Asked who will be apt to play NTR's role, the actor said, "I will. Any doubt?"
NTR, considered the pride of Telugus, acted in 350-odd films. He founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982 and created a record by riding to power in a short span of nine months. He served as Chief Minister of (united) Andhra Pradesh from 1983 to 1989 and later between December 1994 and August 1995.
"Many books have been written on my father. We are collecting several inputs from them [writers] and also by speaking to our relatives [for additional information on him]. The script for the biopic is currently being drafted," Balakrishna said.
