Jaaved Jaaferi prepares for his OCD role


Jaaved Jaaferi plays a cop who suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder in Percept's 8x10 Tasveer. In order to play his character well, the actor did intense research to meet patients suffering from the condition and also read up material on the subject.





Talking about his character he says, "I am playing a cop who suffers from OCD. It's an interesting role, and I did a lot of research to understand the character better. I met a couple of psychologists to get into the psyche of the patients and understand how they behave."u00a0

Apart from visiting doctors and reading books on the subject he also interacted with patients who suffer from the condition.

"I also met a couple of people who suffer from this particular disorder, these patients are obsessive about so many things like cleanliness, looks, order, colours, etc. Meeting them and seeing them in front of me gave me the understanding I needed to play the role."

Describing his look in the film he adds, "I have a different look all together with a new hairstyle. It's an extremely important character where Ayesha and I are around Akshay for most of the time. I am looking forward to see how the audience reacts to this character."

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder most commonly characterized by intrusive, repetitive thoughts resulting in compulsive behaviors and mental acts that the person feels driven to perform, according to rules that must be applied rigidly by resolving a more nebulous sense of tension.
