Opener Parthiv Patel feels that the current ODI series against England is a perfect platform for the youngsters to step up and make best use of the opportunities.
"It's a good opportunity for youngsters to prove themselves. If they do, it would be good for themselves as well as the team," said Patel who scored 95 at Chester-le- Street in first ODI on Saturday.
Patel who looked impressive tackling the short deliveries said, "Watching England's bowling in the Tests was an added advantage. I was well prepared to play the short-pitched bowling. I am happy that I could execute my plans in the first ODI and would like to continue with the same."
Patel was philosophical about India's lengthening casualty list. "It's something not in our control and which we can't do anything about," he said.
"We just have to try to make sure we make the use of all our resources,"
"We were looking good to win the game after England were struggling at 27 for 2, chasing 275. We hope to turn it around in second ODI as well." he added.
