Two men beat up a 32-year-old Ola driver last evening after he mistakenly hit the mirror of a Mercedes in which they were seated. The men also threw the keys of the cab in the sea and fled the spot. The victim, Ram Tiwari, a resident of Ghatkopar picked up a foreigner and her guide, who was an Indian, around 4:30 pm from the Fountain area in Fort. They were headed to BKC for which Tiwari took the route from Sea Link.

“I was driving along the Worli Sea face and was about to take a turn to go to the sea link. There was one Mercedes parked on the side at the turn in such a manner that it was difficult to swerve my car. While taking a turn, my car brushed against the Merc’s mirror,” said Tiwari, who doesn’t own the Ola cab.

He went on to narrate how the two people who looked like father and son sitting in the Merc started shouting at him and started slapping him and threw his car keys in the sea. “I only had that set of keys with me. When I told them that I would call the police, they hit me again,” said Tiwari. The other key of the Swift Dzire is with the bank since the vehicle has been taken on loan. When the police arrived, Tiwari managed to hand over the vehicle papers. The cops also called a keysmith who charged Rs 3,000 for a duplicate key. He was taken to the Worli police station where a non-cognisable report under IPC sections 504 and 427 was filed.
