Speaking at function in city organised by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Modi waxes eloquent on progress made by Gujarat and other states ruled by BJP
Gujrat Chief Minister Narendra Modi yesterday asserted that good governance could be made a reality even in adverse situations provided the administrators were determined enough. He was speaking in the city at a function organised on the occasion of late BJP leader Rambhau Mhalgi’s birth anniversary.
In a virtual repeat of a speech he had delivered at a function organised by the Shree Poona Gujarati Bandhu Samaj in the city in March, Modi once again mentioned the development achieved in his state under his leadership in the past 11 years.

Speaking on ‘Good Governance’ at the function organised by the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, the crowd-pulling Gujarat CM said it was not only his state that had made remarkable strides in development, but also all states where a BJP government has been in place in recent years.
“Whether it is Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh, the BJP’s model of development has always got success in these states,” Modi said.
He said other states would be able to achieve similar success only if their administrators followed the parameters of good governance.
Modi said a few years ago Gujarat was known as a drought-prone state but now it was far ahead not only in milk production but also in tourism and solar power energy.
“Gujarat was never seen as a tourism spot earlier, but with the efforts of the people of Gujarat the tourism sector has been showing remarkable improvement,” Modi said.
The man who is being talked about as the BJP’s strongest contender for the prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 general election said he followed the simple formula of “pro-people, pro-active good governance”, which not only made possible development but also made the common man feel he had a share in the progress of the state.
Modi said the Gujarat organised ‘Garib Mela’ to eradicate poverty. “We have announced the state budget for the social sector in March and the deadline of allotting it was July. Still, the whole amount was allotted in April,” he said. “We approached the people who are below the poverty line instead of their approaching us.”
He also mentioned the tremendous growth in the educational sector in Gujarat, where the world’s first Forensic Science University and Indian Institute of Teachers Education were opened.u00a0Modi said while earlier there were only 11 universities in Gujarat, now there were 41. u00a0

Deputy leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde said in his speech on the occasion that the developmental changes that had happened in Gujarat so far would soon be happening in a similar manner across the nation, thus hinting that Narendra Modi was likely to be the BJP’s next prime ministerial candidate.

He was just invited to present the memento and then he had to return to the seat arranged for him beside other party workers.
