One crore saplings to be planted on Abdul Kalam's death anniversary

As part of observing former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's first death anniversary on July 27, the Park Institutions here is launching a campaign in which one crore saplings will be planted across the globe

Coimbatore: As part of observing former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's first death anniversary on July 27, the Park Institutions here is launching a campaign in which one crore saplings will be planted across the globe.


The campaign will start at the midnight of July 26 and contiuue till the midnight of July 27 and the institution is expectng to plant one crore saplings with the help of millons of Indians across the globe, Anushka Ravi, CEO of Park Institutions told reporters here today.


As part of the this initiatives, one lakh trees in and around Rameswaram, the birth place of Kalam, she said. APJMJ Shekh Dawood, grand newphew of Kalam, who was present, said it was proposed to set up libraries in the name of Kalam in important villages in Tamil Nadu so that the poor can achieve knowledge.


He said it was also planned to start 'Kalam Clubs' in schools to impart training on science and research related topics.
