Leander Paes and Cara Black entered the mixed doubles quarter-finals with a 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-3 victory over Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza at Wimbledon yesterday.
Said Leander, "It was a tough match. It was the first time I was playing Mahesh and Sania together. I'm happy with the result. I really want to win the mixed doubles at Wimbledon. At this year's French Open I lost in the first round of the mixed doubles and went on to win the men's doubles. At Wimbledon I lost in the in the first round of the men's doubles so I hope I go on and win the mixed doubles' title. A tough match like this will definitely keep me and Cara in good stead."
The top seeded pair of Paes and Zimbabwean Black won the US Open mixed doubles last year, while the 13th-seeded Bhupathi and Sania are the Australian Open mixed doubles champions.
