Not wanting to repeat past mistakes, the producers of Patiala House made sure there was someone to supervise how Rishi Kapoor's character wore the pagdi in the movie.

It is common knowledge that Akshay Kumar had come under fire for his styling in Singh Is Kinng.

To avoid any controversy, producer Bhushan Kumar deputed a personal assistant for Rishi to make sure he was dressed in the right way.

Initially, the script had Akshay play a sardar. But the actor asked director Nikhil Advani to make changes in his character as he didn't want to go through the same problems as Singh is Kinng. Hence Nikhil got Rishi's character Bauji to play the Sardar.

To make doubly sure that nothing goes wrong with the way Bauji is dressed up, Jasspreet Singh from Sion Gurudwara was appointed to assist Rishi.

His sole responsibility was to oversee that everything about Rishi Kapoor was authentic. He made sure that nothing was out of sync, from his hair to his pagdi to his clothes, body language and accent.

Commenting on policing the character, Advani says, "Nobody likes unnecessary controversies around their film. So we have taken all important measures to make sure that whatever we show on the big screen is authentic."

Bhushan adds, "When we make films, our intention is never to hurt anyone's sentiments in anyway, so it is always advised to be safe than sorry."
