"He was handed to Pakistan Rangers at the Wagah border," Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat said. Bhagat presented Kashif with a set of books and track suits on the occasion.

The teenager, a resident of Peer Hayat village in Pakistan's Okara district, was caught by BSF troopers at Kasur border in Fazilka for crossing the border illegally in September last year. He was subsequently sent to a juvenile home here.

"He was caught without documents and handed six-month imprisonment. On September 28, authorities and his relatives from Pakistan identified him in Amritsar jail," Bhagat said.

An activist had approached the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan to ensure Kashif's return. The Commission had referred Kashif's case to the Pakistan High Commission in India.

Shahbaz Ahmad, brother-in-law of the boy, had said Kashif was crazy about Ajay Devgun and wanted to meet him.
