This will be unlike 2011 when the late MAK Pataudi was not called on to present the trophy to winning captain Andrew Strauss at the Oval on August 22 at the end of the fourth Test.

PTI reported then that, "Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi was given the cold shoulder by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) during the post-series presentation ceremony where English captain Andrew Strauss was officially handed the sponsors' trophy rather than the Pataudi Trophy for which the teams were officially playing for."

The former skipper ultimately presented the Trophy to Strauss, but by then the live telecast of the presentation had ended. The BCCI, it is learnt, discussed the issue recently with their England counterparts and have ensured the presentation of the Pataudi Trophy be given its due importance.

The BCCI has informed the former India captain's wife Sharmila Tagore that a member of her family will be part of the presentation party and will handover the Trophy to the captain of the winning team.

It may be recalled that batting legend Sunil Gavaskar was critical of the 2011 goof-up and had expressed his displeasure. "Firstly, I believe there shouldn't be two trophies and teams should play for one trophy.

No harm in having the sponsors as they pour money into the game. But it was certainly not nice to find Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi standing there and the captain being presented the sponsors' trophy," Gavaskar reportedly said on television.

India and England have played for the Pataudi Trophy in England since 2007. So, will we see images of Sharmila Tagore or Saif Ali Khan handing over the Trophy to either Alastair Cook or MS Dhoni at the end of the August 15-19 fifth Test at the Oval? Good chance of that happening.
