Inspired by real life incidents, 'Rustom' is a romantic-thriller set in the late 1950s. It is apparently based on the 1959 Nanavati case where naval officer Kavas Maneckshaw Nanavati was tried for the murder of his wife's lover.

The film marks Akshay's third collaboration with Neeraj Pandey. Akshay and Neeraj have earlier worked as actor-director in 'Baby' and 'Special 26', both of which found appreciation.
'Rustom', however, is not directed by Pandey, and instead marks the directorial debut of Tinu Suresh Desai.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, 'Rustom' also stars Ileana D'Cruz, Esha Gupta and Arjan Bajwa.
'Rustom' is slated to release on August 12.
