According to Eknath Pawar, BJP president of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the attackers were know to Madegiri.

“He was testing the microphone when seven people went up to him and asked him he was making noise. They, all of a sudden, started beating him and then fled from the spot,” Pawar said.

Pawar alleged that the attackers belonged to another political party. “They are in a tussle with Madegiri since the last PCMC election,” he said. Madegiri’s wife Varsha is a BJP corporator from Indrayani Nagar in Bhosari.

Police however said that Madegiri hasn’t lodged any complaint against anybody yet. u00a0
