As unauthorised hoardings congratulating new Dy CM Ajit Pawar mushroom, PCMC issues 2-day ultimatum
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) removed 1,300 chamcha hoardings ufffd publicity material put up in praise of political leaders by their supporters without permission ufffd in Pimpri, Chinchwad, Bhosari, Akurdi and Nigdi. Now the drive has been intensified because hoardings congratulating NCP leader Ajit Pawar after his appointment as deputy chief minister have mushroomed all over the industrial township.
Such hoardings most commonly make an appearance on leaders' birthdays.
This time a majority of the hoardings, flex boards and banners that made the city look ugly were those that congratulated Pawar. Almost every NCP leader from every lane and bylane had put up one.
Dada appeal ignored
"Nobody is listening to Dada (Pawar) as he had made an appeal to not put up chamcha hoardings in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad," said Ashok Rathod, an NCP worker in Pimpri.
Prakash Kadam, additional commissioner, Sky Sign Department, PCMC, said PCMC was giving a couple of days for political parties to remove the chamcha hoardings.
"We had already warned to those who have installed political flex and hoardings to remove it in the next two days," said Kadam. "Otherwise, we will charge Rs 500 fine with a case under the Bombay Provincial Municipal Act 1950."
