Los Angeles: Penelope Cruz will essay the role of Donatella Versace in Ryan Murphy's 'Versace: American Crime Story'.

The 42-year-old actress will join the third series of Murphy's anthology, which began with 'The People v OJ Simpson' in 2016, reported The AceShowbiz.
Cruz will play the sister of the slain fashion designer Gianni Versace, who took over the company following her brother's death.
She joins Edgar Ramirez who has been cast as the legendary designer and Darren Criss who will play the killer.
It marks Penelope Cruz's first TV series regular role. The Spanish beauty won an Academy Award for her supporting role in Woody Allen's 2008 movie 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'.
