The Sheena Bora murder case, which has already claimed spotlight, might grab eyeballs yet again after former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea’s ex-wife Shabnam Singh spilled the beans on his character, her relation with his wife and prime accused Indrani and her reaction to when Peter introduced Indrani to her.

Reason for divorce
In her statement, attached to CBI’s second chargesheet, Singh said, “Peter has no morals and is always attracted to young women. He was very fond of late night parties and had several women in his life, which was the reason I decided to divorce him.”

Indrani, the girlfriend
Singh told CBI that despite being divorced, she used to meet Peter often to facilitate his meeting with his children, Rahul and Rabin. Once, when she was in England, Peter came to meet her. “He came along with Indrani, who he introduced as his girlfriend. He told me that they were planning to get married shortly. I wished them good luck and also sarcastically told him, ‘Tum nahin sudhroge’, as I assumed that he would dump her like his previous girlfriends since he had a penchant for young women,” stated Singh.

Sour relations
Singh later learnt that Peter married Indrani despite being warned of her reputation in Kolkata. She further stated that she once received a call from Indrani, where the latter asked her to take a lumpsum alimony once and for all and not ask for an unreasonable amount. “I got angry and told her to mind her own business as this was between me and my ex-husband,” Singh’s statement read.

The special CBI judge HS Mahajan truncated the second paragraph of the statement saying that it is irrelevant since Peter’s interests do not matter in the case.

When mid-day spoke to Peter’s lawyer, Mihir Gheewaala, about the statement, he said, “This shows the desperation of CBI to create a charge against Peter. The purpose behind this is malafide.”
