A newly launched mobile service, Sparsh, will solve all your sex queries
IN several research works it has been proved that instances of unwanted pregnancies, sexually-transmitted diseases and abortions have increased among the youth and youngsters nowadays are becoming sexually active and getting into risky sexual behaviour.
This certainly is a major concern from the health point of view. To help people (read such confused youngsters), a new helpline has been launched. To know how, read on for more details.

IL&FS Education and Technology Services and the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) have together come up with Sparsh, a mobile service that will answer all the queries of callers when they're stuck in testing times.
The service will equip the callers with information about sex and sexual issues and the surrounding misconceptions. It comes as a breather for all youngsters who -- either out of embarrassment or fear -- don't seek answers from adults, friends or relatives.

Since the service is targeted at young minds, no other tool of communication could have been as effective as mobile phones to disseminate information that's too personal to be discussed in open. As the world's first voice-based sexual information service on the mobile phone, Sparsh primarily would cater to the age group of 13 to 30 years.
It will provide requisite information, validated by the FPAI, which addresses common and specific queries the youngsters have about their developing bodies, sex and sexual health. A combination of IVR and SMS formats, the service has been carefully designed to cover all aspects of sexuality including 12 modules comprising various topics like puberty, masturbation, erectile dysfunction, pregnancy etc with FAQs explained in simple language by a male and a female voice.
Also, a list of myths and truths related to that topic just to reiterate facts about
sexuality to the user has been added. After subscribing, the user can access the vast array of content as per his convenience.
