Pick wonder weaves from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at this exhibition
Keen to be a head-turner at your friend’s wedding? Head to an exhibition by Tilang-Andhri, a label launched in 2012, that offers handcrafted saris ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 14,000.
Like its name — Tilang is a raga from Telangana and Andhri is an ancient melody native to Andhra — the label merges handloom techniques of both states with the weaves sourced directly from the craftsmen of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Pochampally Ikkat cotton saris
Choose from fabrics like Uppada, Gadwal, Pochampally Ikkat, Mangalagiri, Venkatagiri and traditional south silks. The label also offers dupattas, stoles and scarves in cotton, tussar and khadi silk, wherein designs are hand-painted by Kalamkari artists using vegetable dyes.
Also, on offer is modified Banjara jewellery.
