Composer Ismail Darbar chose the wrong guy to pick a fight with. First, he accused A R Rahman of bribing officials to get an Oscar. He followed that up with accusations of plagiarism.

In the process, he had the dubious honour of becoming a trending topic for all the wrong reasons.

While some people wanted to know when Darbar last composed music for a film, a certain Aakarsh had a pertinent question: 'Why can't Darbar, who doesn't even have five albums to his credit, buy an Oscar award then?'

Racism begins at home
Once referred to as the pub capital of India, Bangalore's reputation took a beating following reports that a number of pubs and restaurants across the city had begun denying entry to African nationals. The stereotype of Africans as drug peddlers was blamed.

As a certain M K Baig pointed out though, 'We cry about racism in Australia and then practice the same.' Saurabh Kanwar added: 'Bangalore bans Africans from pubs on security grounds. In other news, the Klu Klux Klan finds the city a favourable outsourcing destination.' A shame, indeed.

Stop lighting up

No Tobacco Day raised a lot of tweets, from the positive to the defiant. While Ashish D'Souza wanted to know if this meant we were to stop smoking for a day and begin 24 hours later, Kaushal Bhandankar had this to say: 'A cigarette is the only consumer product which, when used as directed, kills its consumer.' Chew on that for a while, why don't you.

The last word

What would this columnist do without the presence of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Twitter: 'I am mst intelligent man I hav evr met nd I haven't yet not met a man who is mre intelligent becos no one more intelligent thn me evr met me (sic)'. He leaves one speechless, doesn't he?
