England batsman Kevin Pietersen has branded off-spinner Graeme Swann's recent autobiography "not a clever book" after the latter described KP as "not a natural leader".

Pietersen, however, insisted the fallout from the book The Breaks Are Off would not undermine England's team spirit when the world's No1 Test team face Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates next month, and said there was no feud between the two players.

"Things are absolutely fine. It's not a clever book in the middle of your career, but it's not affecting anything that's going on in the team for sure," The Telegraph quoted Pietersen, as saying.

He added: "The team spirit we've got at the moment has been really hard work and really hard to get to such a great position. To support each other the way we support each other, that won't change, a book won't change anything like that."

The Pakistan series, which will be played on neutral territory because of continuing security concerns in Pakistan, will be England's first Test series since they beat India and Pietersen acknowledged that staying top of the rankings would be harder than getting there in the first place.
